Ship It Weekly - DevOps, ...

Ship It Weekly is a short, practical recap of what actually matters in DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering. Each episode, your host Brian Teller walks through the latest outages, releases, tools, and incident writeups, then translates them into “here’s what this means for your systems” instead of just reading headlines. Expect a couple of main stories with context, a quick hit of tools or releases worth bookmarking, and the occasional segment on on-call, burnout, or team culture. This isn’t a certification prep show or a lab walkthrough. It’s aimed at people who are already working in the space and want to stay sharp without scrolling status pages and blogs all week. You’ll hear about things like cloud provider incidents, Kubernetes and platform trends, Terraform and infrastructure changes, and real postmortems that are actually worth your time. Most episodes are 10–25 minutes, so you can catch up on the way to work or between meetings. Every now and then there will be a ...

We’re always looking for guests for Ship It Weekly.

If you’ve got opinions, war stories, lessons learned, or even just a good “here’s what I wish I knew earlier” take, you’re a fit. I’m not only looking for mega-famous speakers or 20-year veterans. I want a mix: engineering managers who’ve had to balance delivery vs reliability, platform/DevOps/SRE folks who live on-call, security-minded engineers who think about blast radius and guardrails, and also newer or aspiring cloud/DevOps folks who are actively learning and can share what’s working (and what’s confusing) right now.

Good guest topics are usually practical and a little opinionated. Postmortems you were close to (or ones you’ve studied hard), scaling pains, migrations, cost surprises, “we thought this was fine until prod” moments, Kubernetes platform patterns, Terraform/infra changes, incident comms, runbooks, paging culture, burnout, and how teams actually get better at operating systems over time. Also happy to zoom out into general engineering and SaaS tech news, like what trends are real vs hype, and what changes are going to land on teams whether they like it or not.

Format is low stress. Most episodes are 10–25 minutes. Recorded remote (Riverside). We’ll do a quick pre-chat so we’re aligned on the angle, and then it’s basically a normal convo: what happened, why it matters, and what listeners can do with it. If you’re interested, shoot me a note with a couple topics you’d be excited to talk about and roughly what kind of systems/team you’ve worked on.
