About Heidi Holvoet

Hi! I'm Heidi Holvoet, PhD, founder of Baby-Sleep-Advice.com and Rested!

With Baby Sleep Advice I offer a unique holistic and truly-no-tears (no hidden CIO), respectful, and doable way that effectively helps a baby sleep better. Not just for a few nights, but long-term and for a lifetime of healthy sleep.

Founded by me in 2008, Baby Sleep Advice now has a growing Dream Team of passionate sleep consultants, trained by me. We offer 1:1 sleep consulting packages, award-winning DIY programs, an extensive free how-to and knowledge base, and a warm, supportive community, Rested!, for parents who want to help their babies sleep well with truly gentle and respectful methods.

My approach always keeps in mind a baby's needs and abilities at any given age, and is supported by pediatric science and the most up-to-date knowledge in infant care and sleep science. It's unique in that we achieve improved sleep without ever resorting to CIO (which surprisingly many 'gentle' sleep approaches do), and we achieve it for baby AND parents.

I'm happy to talk about:

- all topics related to parenting, babies, and sleep

- why truly gentle baby sleep approaches are important, how they can work, and how not

- the importance of connecting with like-minded moms and how to create your support system

- the relationship between perinatal mental health issues and sleep deprivation

- the effect of sleep deprivation on couple relationships, household financial situation, and general family well-being

- the heartache and serious struggles that books like "Bringing up Bebe" cause to many moms

- how to recover from having tried, unsuccessfully CIO techniques like Ferber but also the No-Cry Sleep Solution, the Baby Whisperer, and similar (over the years, I've helped many families and their babies recover from these: not because the approaches are bad in themselves but because they just weren't right for them and didn't inform transparently)

- how to run a mom-oriented business

- how to train others to join/follow in your footsteps as a consultant/therapist
