I've been writing all my life and the first three books in my Guinevere series were published this year by Dragonblade Publishing. There are six in the series.
I've done a variety of different jobs including working with horses where Downton Abbey is filmed, and running my own riding school when I was married to a farmer. I also was a rent collector for a local housing association - not at all what you'd think - lots of cups of tea and cakes with old ladies!
For ten years I lived in France (so I speak fluent French) where my husband and I ran holiday cottages. And how we've been ten years on our canal boat.
I've ridden all my life but now we're on the boat I no longer have horses and I've found the time to write full time. I belong to an online critiquing group - Critique Circle - where I've honed my craft.
Writing is my life - I had a short story published when I was younger (pre-children) and a non-fiction article about hunting in France. There's nothing I'd rather do than write. I'm just finishing up polishing book six in my series and also have some YA and children's books I'd like to see published in the near future.
When I'm not writing (which isn't often) I like to walk my rescue dog, Bella, sew and knit for my grandchildren, and read. My all time favourite author is Nevil Shute, but the author who had the most influence on me was Alan Garner. I'm an old-fashioned and although I have a kindle, I much prefer proper books in my hands.
I was inspired to write my books after a trip to Glastonbury Tor in Somerset. My husband took four photos with infrared film in his camera and in the second photo the tower on the top of the Tor was fading, and in the third it had vanished. It was back in photo 4. I wondered if we'd had a glimpse at the Tor as it had been in the past, and what would have happened if we'd been in the tower when it vanished. And so the Guinevere series was born - a 24 year old librarian goes up the Tor to scatter her late father's ashes and inside the tower finds a gold ring. Touching it snatches her back to the Dark Ages to take her place in history as King Arthur's Queen Guinevere.
