About JAMES GEBHARDT

The seeds to our business were, unknown to us, planted many years ago. When our 2-year old daughter was slated to go into children’s hospital for open-heart surgery, we rented a VHS camcorder (it being 1990) we would have some precious memories of her, just in case. All went well. Some years later in the late 90’s, on a road trip back to Iowa, to visit relatives, I sat my dad down and again with a video camera, asked him questions about his life. It was a great time. So years later after he passed away I wanted to hand down these memories to my kids and then to their kids etc. I looked around and we had many photo albums, and now being the age computers, thousands of pictures and video’s all over the place on phones, tablets, clouds etc. There was not a good option to take a picture, add a story to it, and then hand it down for generations. The reality is we are going to be deleted, lost, or censored. It was out of necessity that we created MyArkit.com so you could hand down your life’s memories to the coming generations. Pictures, videos, even daily thoughts will be archived through multiple businesses and being MyArkit.com is a C-corp, stock will be available to add perpetuity to the business. It’s been an uphill battle, being a new type of business, in un-chartered waters. But each time I look back on the lives that we could have saved, like Frank who worked as a cashier at a gas station, wheeling around his oxygen tank, trying to make it to 70, so he could get full Social security benefits, come to find out he was a B-17 pilot in WW2. Or the mother who teared up when I explained what Myarkit was, and she wishes her husband would have had something like that to give to their two daughters, because she lost him when they where young. We think that time stands still until we loose someone we love, then we want some of that time back. Many times I have presented this business as a dream with nods of acceptance but little real advice. So taking a loan out against our house, we took the plunge into the unknown, which is the future.
