About Paul Doughty

As a child, I grew up in a home where domestic violence was an all-too-familiar backdrop. From the tender age of four until my twelfth year, I bore witness to the painful cycle of aggression and fear. My parents’ eventual divorce at twelve marked a turning point, but it also left me largely unsupervised during my formative years.

The absence of guidance led me down a treacherous path—one paved with drug and alcohol abuse. Life felt like a hazy dream, as if I were perpetually veiled from reality. I moved through the days, a mere shadow of existence, until I reached the age of 35.

At that critical juncture, I was merely going through the motions—two divorces, six children, and a mounting sense of despair. Suicide loomed as a haunting option. But then, a lifeline emerged: TMS therapy. This groundbreaking treatment pulled me from the abyss, illuminating a path toward healing and resilience.

In the midst of my struggles, a new chapter unfolded—one of awakening and spiritual discovery. I sought solace in counseling, where I learned to navigate the complexities of my emotions. Books on spirituality became my companions, guiding me through philosophies and wisdom that transcended my past afflictions. A pivotal encounter with a priest opened my eyes to the power of faith and forgiveness, while walking a labyrinth allowed me to contemplate life’s intricate paths.

This journey of self-discovery led me to a profound realization: the importance of self-love, compassion for others, and a deep appreciation for the world around me. It was through this transformative process that I found the strength to not only heal but also to kindle a light within, one that I now strive to share with the world.
