About Katherine Nichols

Writing and helping women realize their potential are two of my passions. Before I was old enough to spell my name, I loved telling stories. I began writing them in elementary school and never stopped. My dream was to become a published author.
As early as second grade I became a feminist before I knew there was a word for the fury I felt when a boy made fun of my friend for her weight. I wrestled him to the ground and who knows what I would have done if my teacher hadn't pulled me off him. She explained ladies didn't get into fights. I countered with the declaration I didn't want to be a lady.
During my career as a high school teacher, I started a group for girls who wanted to excel. The group became mentors to each other and to younger students. I stay in contact with many of these young women.
And I never gave up on my dream. After working in advertising and education, I did it. I signed with Black Rose Writing. Not only did they publish my first and second novels but are eager to work with me on my third.
As an author, I write realistic female characters who don't realize how strong they are. I put them in dangerous situations and give them the power to change their lives. And I let them do it with humor and compassion.
As part of my writing journey, I work with an all-women's critique group. Together we started the podcast Wild Women Who Write Take Flight. Our interviews primarily include women authors, but we have male guests who are supportive of women as well.
I serve on the board of Sisters in Crime Atlanta and am a Vice President in the Atlanta Writers Club. I live in Lilburn, Georgia with my husband, 2 rescue dogs, and 2 rescue cats.
