About Kathryn Annis

Problem
Drug use. Homelessness. Crime. Poverty. Abuse. Neglect. Many of these issues have one distinct link. Trauma. To heal from trauma, there needs to be a complete and comprehensive support system; one that treats the entire person. Our current and established system is not set up to effectively address this situation. The question should not be, "Why/how does this happen?", the question that must be considered and asked of all involved needs to be, "well, why not?". If the current systems do not work, what will?

Solution
The Dawning Institute offers a collaborative and integrated space for trauma-focused healing practitioners who provide a range of services to survivors of trauma(s), offering an inclusive approach for healing and support. We strive for an intrinsic body-mind-soul healing allowing freedom from the chains of conscious and sub-conscious limitations which keeps survivors from achieving their greatest aspirations. This innovative approach addresses the whole person, enabling them to achieve overall wellness, balance, and support to help our clients overcome their experiences and move forward in a healthy, positive, productive, and fulfilling way.

In this model, there is no competition. Anyone can seek these services individually and at great cost; but that is also outlined in the problem. Adding financial incentives to the providers themselves to see multiple clients on a pro bono basis accelerates accessibility to our community members. This approach will heal the whole-body system by bringing mindfulness to the trauma, releasing it, accepting it, then overcoming it. Trauma lives in our very cells, in our Central Nervous System. When we heal trauma, we heal both our mind and physical body. This system works and I live it every day.
