Steven Rogers is a retired business executive, novelist, and speaker.
After attending The College of the Holy Cross, he became a Certified Public Accountant and went on to fill various roles in public accounting and private industry. When asked to describe his professional career, he uses the phrase “fortunate beyond all reason.” It enabled him to travel extensively around the United States, visit Amsterdam, England, and South America, meet famous people like Alan Alda, Howie Long, and Earl Hamner, ride in a private jet, tour a nuclear power plant, interact with members of Congress, and, incredibly, stand next to Bill Clinton as the former President shaved in a public restroom. More importantly, his corporate career created profound and enduring friendships. In addition, Steven fondly remembers his time as a fifth-grade teacher, a role he filled for three years between financially oriented gigs.
Despite these amazing experiences, Steven would label himself a “Reluctant Accountant” or, as his older brother once put it, “You’re a born Classics Major.” In 2016, Steven retired from the corporate world to pursue his dream. His short story “Deep Waters received an honorable mention award in the 89th Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition. Another short story, “The Yellow Meadow” was published in the Willow and Thorn Anthology in March 2024.
Steven’s Contemporary Christian Fiction novel Into the Room was published in May of 2021. Into the Room won first place in the Spiritual Fiction Category and was a Grand Prize finalist for the 2022 Eric Hoffer Book Award. In addition, Into the Room was a finalist in the Debut Novel category for the 2022 American Fiction Christian Writers Carol Awards and a Runner-Up in the 2023 Christian Indie Awards. His second novel, A Year in the Room, will be released in 2024.
Steven, a proud father of three adult children and one incredibly lucky son-in-law, is happily married to his wife of thirty-seven years, Kathy. They live in Richmond, Virginia.
