About Kathryne Imabayashi

My name is Kathryne Savage Imabayashi, a Canadian educator, parent, and coach, residing in Fukuoka, Japan. During a rich career in education spanning four decades, I have been dedicated to empowering children, parents and teachers to be their best and do their best. Having experienced a variety of countries and cultures, both as a teacher and a school leader, my perspective of the critical role parents play in the life of a child has deeply impacted my mission.

Almost three decades ago, an innocent outing with my son carved out my life’s purpose: becoming a passionate advocate for boys. “As a ‘gang of boys’ approached us that day, I was filled with a deep, guttural fear. For no other reason than that they were boys. When I imagined someone in the future feeling that same fear when my son approached, simply because he was male, I knew I had to learn more and then had to find a way to make this world a better place for our boys.”

I have been on a mission for almost 25 years to understand and then share with others the emotional world of boys, and the pressures society places on them. The discord between what expectations are and how boys really feel often results in them shutting down their true self and resorting to misbehavior, rebellion or depression.

Since retiring, I have been able to pursue my passion full time. In less than two years I have created a business (sonhoodcoaching.com), published two on-line courses (The Blueprint:How to Intentionally Parent Your Son & The 7 SuperPowers Parents of Boys Need ), published a book and co-authoring another, and have used social media to share my knowledge of boys (instagram, facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube).

I am passionate to share my experience and expertise in order to create a better world for all boys. Boys deserve to grow up without the shackles society puts on them, to refuse to follow the Boy Code. My mission is to help as many boys as possible by sharing what I know with their parents, their teachers, and with them. Our boys need us to stand up for their right to grow up free and have their inner, emotional world protected.
