I didn’t expect to find a new career in my fifties, yet here I am: the author of the popular (and Mumsnet best summer read) murder mystery series, Losers Club.

I blog on social media as Growing Old Disgracefully, and my page is mostly aimed at perimenopausal women who aren’t afraid to laugh at themselves. In 2020, when these women encouraged me to write a book, I never imagined that a couple of years later I’d be quitting the day job to write full time.

The menopause can play havoc with one’s clarity of thought, physical and mental wellbeing and self-confidence. In comments on my blog, women often say “oh, I’m too old to do that.” I want to talk about how middle age doesn’t spell the end for women and I want to explain how I battle the menofog to write my books.
