About Daniel Fox

I'm Daniel, founder of Entuned. We compose original music for retail stores, engineered to move specific customer behaviors: dwell time, conversion, basket size. Not playlists. Not licensed catalog. Music built from scratch with hundreds of sonic parameters tuned to how a particular store's customers actually respond. The idea came from working the floor at an UNTUCKit store in Denver. The playlists were terrible. Not bad-taste terrible. Wrong-for-the-room terrible. I'd watch customers react to the music in real time, and it was obvious that nobody had thought about what this sound was supposed to do. I had a design degree from Ohio State and years as a music producer, so I understood both sides of the problem: the behavioral design question and the hundreds of levers inside a recording that most people don't know exist. Before Entuned, I built Skreened, a custom apparel ecommerce company that scaled to 180 employees and was acquired by Gooten Inc. in 2017. So I've done the zero-to-exit thing. This time I'm building something where the product gets smarter every time it plays, because every session generates behavioral data that feeds back into how the next track gets composed. We recently ran a live pilot at an UNTUCKit location where conversion jumped from 18% to 28%. The store's assistant manager gave an unprompted testimonial. No one asked her to say anything. She just noticed the difference. I can talk about the science of how music changes purchasing behavior, why generative AI music is structurally better than playlists for retail, what most people get wrong about background music in stores, and what it's like building a company where the core IP is a dataset that doesn't exist yet.
