Alexandra Beller is a choreographer, director, and somatic educator whose work sits at the intersection of embodied practice, creative process, and artistic pedagogy. She danced as a principal member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company before founding Alexandra Beller/Dances, and has spent 25 years guiding artists through the kind of inquiry that makes work feel alive again. She teaches Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis at institutions including the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, Princeton, and Rutgers. Her new book, The Anatomy of Art: Unlocking the Creative Process for Theater and Dance (Bloomsbury, 2026), explores how somatic awareness, curiosity, and embodied frameworks can transform the way artists make and teach work. She is also co-author of The Embodied Conductor (Meredith, 2025), applying these ideas to musical leadership. Alexandra brings rigor and warmth to conversations about creative blocks, the inner critic, what it means to make work under capitalism, and how the body holds and generates meaning. She's a guest who thinks out loud, stays close to the specific, and leaves listeners with tools they can actually use.
