About Mitchell Mountain

My passion for storytelling bloomed at a young age when my father would make me sit down every day journaling the day's events. This simple, repetitive action spawned an interest in reading and writing which spurred the motivation for me to attempt writing my own book. However, at the age of 10, I found writing a book too large of an endeavor and turned my attention to creating a comic book instead. Lacking the necessary art skills and discipline to accomplish such a task, I gave up once again. While defeated, the desire to tell stories continued surging within me, waiting to burst free, and I eventually found a creative outlet through film and screenplay writing.

This led me to pursue a degree in Motion Pictures at Belmont University. During such time, I learned about film production and the art of crafting an intricate narrative both visually and in writing. I honed my skills as a video editor helping other aspiring directors bring their visions to life on the screen and as a writer creating various screenplays. One of those screenplays, "The Way of Walking Alone", finished as a quarter finalist in the 2019 Finish Line Script Competition. Currently, I work as a full-time editor at content creation agency, Made In Network.

I also work as a self-published author having released my first novel and first book in The Gray Phoenix Series, "Out of the Ashes," in November 2021. Being a fan of gritty fantasy, I was inspired to create a world of my own and tell a story spanning multiple books and following various characters. As of now, I am working on the second book in the series. It is my goal as a creative to tell a story that emotionally touches people, taking them on a journey beyond the realms of their normal lives, and experience the wonder the art of storytelling can offer.
