About Alan N Webber

After nearly 50 years in the transportation industry, including owning and operating a mid-sized trucking company, I turned my sights toward another lifelong interest: writing. I am the author of 14 books ranging from contemporary fiction and short stories to historical and Victorian mysteries. My work includes the Tim Harrison Trilogy, the Victorian Ink & Shadow Mysteries, and my newest novel, Sherlock Holmes and the White City, which brings the world's most famous detective to Chicago's 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and puts him on a collision course with H. H. Holmes. I also publish Webber's Whipping Post, a weekly newsletter featuring commentary, history, short fiction, baseball, music, humor, and the occasional observation about how much the world has changed. My years in transportation gave me a front-row seat to American business, trucking, people, and life on the road. Those experiences have found their way into much of my fiction, particularly the Tim Harrison Trilogy. I enjoy conversations about writing later in life, the realities of independent publishing, turning history into fiction, the transportation industry, American culture, and the experiences that provide writers with their best stories. Married for more than 46 years, my wife and I have four children and twelve grandchildren.
