About Amy Hagerup

I am honored to have served 23 years in Africa (Ethiopia and Ghana) as a missionary with SIM. I have also had the privilege of ministering as a collegiate staff with DiscipleMakers at Penn State, supporting my husband as a pastor's wife, speaking at conferences, teaching, and managing a home business in health and wellness with Shaklee. Mom to five and Nana to fourteen, I continue to have a plethora of opportunities to grow to be more like Jesus.

Even though my childhood was troubled by the desertion of my father when I was ten, I have been able to discern the hand of God in my life through all the trials I have been through both on the mission field and in my home country. I am passionate about communicating God's goodness to us, even as we weather difficult trials like mine.

My recent book, "From Worry to Wonder: Seeing God's Goodness in Life's Rearview Mirror," is a collection of short stories from my life of how God brought good from difficulties. I love to encourage people with God's goodness when experiencing their own life struggles like loneliness, financial hardship, family crisis, adoption challenges, wayward children, disease, and death.

When God states in Romans 8:28 that He will bring about "good," He doesn't mean a comfortable, successful, or trouble-free life. In verse 29 that follows, He explains that by "good," He means to help us conform to the image of His Son, becoming more like Jesus, which is God's will for us.
That is what I like to communicate to your listeners!
