About Alishia

I spent over a decade in the beauty industry as a nail technician and running my own salon. My favourite part of the job was never the nails it was the connections and conversations. You know what it’s like in a salon, it’s as much therapy as it is a pamper. My clients became more like friends, we'd catch up every couple of weeks and chat about everything, our lives, what we'd been up to, our relationships and always, always how we were feeling. And something that came up over and over again was how bloated and exhausted everyone was and how bad their PMS had been that month or how their skin kept breaking out no matter what they tried. And it was like a salon bonding session, one person would say something and everyone else would jump in. We'd all nod along and agree with each other. Looking back now it was beautiful in way, just women supporting each other. But what was actually happening was we were normalising these symptoms, because when everyone around you feels the same way it stops sounding like a problem, and it just sounds like being a woman. And I was one of the people nodding along too. Because I was living every single one of those things myself. I was passed from doctor to dermatologist, Put on pill after pill and harsh creams and then eventually Roaccutane. I was also dealing with crazy hormonal mood swings (my friends even had a nickname for me ha) and was bloated all the time. I was told by doctors, its only skin (essentially telling me it was a vanity issue) and I was told that my symptoms were just hormones and when I asked about my missing cycle I was told to back when I wanted children, So crazy! And I got to a point where I just thought but why? Why is this happening? Why is nobody asking that question? So I started researching and found naturopathic healing and became completely obsessed I started to implement what I was learning and my ski stated to clear. My hormones started to feel moe balanced and my bloating was going down. I became so passionate that I went back to school at 29. Studied Biomedicine and retrained as a naturopathic nutritionist alongside running the salon. I learned something that chan ged everything and that was how the gut and the hormones and the skin are one system (not three separate things). And during all of this, I made myself a promise, that If I found a way to heal myself, I would spend my life making sure other women knew they could find their way to feel their best too. And that is where the Nutrition Doll was born 🤍 I now have an online clinic where I work 1:1 with my clients, I'm a speaker and host events, and I have spoken at universities but my goals are so much bigger and I feel my message is so much bigger than what im' doing at the moment, EVERY woman needs to know how amazing they can actually feel and my goal (although cray big) is to reach them all.
