About Laura Leeson
-
I've taught K-12 and every grade in between before I turned 30! Of my many teaching adventures, my favorite is my first: teaching five grades in a three room schoolhouse in rural Alaska. Now, I write the books I wish I'd had in my own classroom. As a PBS kid, I try to embody the philosophy of Valerie Frizzle "to take chances, make mistakes, and get messy" while encouraging kids to follow LeVar Burton's Reading Rainbow motto, "you don't have to take my word for it." Because we all learn best from our own experience--however wild and wacky it may be! Reading should be an experience. Each of my books is crafted to bring experience to life, inviting children to engage in creating their own connections.
