I'm a thirty-nine-year-old author (Saving the Lost Girl: A Memoir of Healing, April 2025), essayist, and singer/songwriter (How We Really Feel, 2018). I'm also a wife and mother of two.
The things I've overcome as a previous foster child, adoptee, and childhood abuse survivor significantly impact my creative work.
As a high-functioning person with an ACE score of 9, I would consider myself an expert on resilience after childhood trauma, overcoming creative roadblocks, and adoptee and foster care issues.
Managing my mental health has been an essential part of maintaining a stable family life, and my years of study in psychology and spent in different forms of therapy offer wisdom on topics of marriage, parenting, relationships, and the relationship with self.
Finally, I grew up in an evangelical church. Though it gave me hope as a child that something better was waiting for me, as an adult, I realized that I couldn't truly heal my chaotic past unless I left the church because no actual help was available. And so, religious deconstruction and rebuilding a worldview that feels more authentic, and all things spirituality, are also topics I'm well versed in.
