About KURT SCHAER

For years, my wife and I felt God calling us to minister together, and in May of 2022, we took a leap of faith, stepping away from the local church we loved to embark on a new journey. Our ministry, Broken For Better, aims to equip and empower healthy marriages while coming alongside those who feel their relationships are beyond repair. With excitement and anticipation, we were eager to see how God would use our story to impact others.
However, everything changed 29 days later, when our youngest son, Logan, and his girlfriend were tragically lost in a freak accident. In that moment, the meaning of Broken For Better transformed profoundly. We were now tasked with looking into the eyes of hurting individuals and proclaiming the goodness of God amidst unimaginable pain.
As Joel 2:25 reminds us, “So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locusts have eaten.” We believe many are wrestling with the goodness of God as a Heavenly Father through their own struggles. We desire to restore hope through truth and love, drawing from our journey of overcoming unfaithfulness in our marriage and now facing the greatest pain we’ve ever encountered.
Broken For Better exists to help others understand that through brokenness, God’s character remains unchanged—He is good. No matter the circumstances, He is present and faithful to those who earnestly seek Him.
Together, we are committed to faithfully fulfilling the assignment God has given us, even though it is one few would choose. We strive to be honest, vulnerable, and authentic during this challenging season. If you feel led to connect or if we can serve your ministry or church, please reach out through brokenforbetter.com. We welcome the opportunity to partner together.
We look forward to witnessing God’s hand in every circumstance and working to restore hope through truth and love.
