About Genevieve

I am passionate about helping others discover and navigate their career paths and to help change the way we look at hiring, recruiting and culture to bring more inclusion, level playing fields and meaning into everyday work life. I'm a big believer in continuing to learn new skills and saying yes to opportunities.

But I wasn't always like that. For most of my working career I have been a serial apologiser, an over-thinker of emails, a phone call cringer. I’ve found myself on more than one occasion, sitting in meetings, agreeing vigorously with ideas that, quite frankly, I knew were bad.

Why? I hated confrontation. A hater of any kind of self promotion, I was eventually told that I was being overlooked for a higher role for sitting on the sidelines. That it was my communication style (or lack thereof) not my work, that was keeping me from progressing in my career. Ouch.

A lot of workplace culture trends, from how we hire new employees, to behavioural "norms" to the way we interact at work doesn't fit into the way people want to work, with passion and integrity. In fact, it does more damage to a company than good.

I currently look after People and Culture for a fast-paced marketing agency. My experience has made me take a look at different approaches to talent development, hiring practices and how to give others the tools and inspiration they need to stand out and be heard at work without compromising their personalities, feel undervalued or make them want to claw their eyes out.

I'm keen to help spread that message to anyone who'll listen and would love the opportunity.
