Erik "the Travel Guy" Hastings is a father of two young children. He is an EMMY award-winning television creator and host of the PBS television series "Beyond Your Backyard". Now in it's fourth season, millions of viewers virtually travel with Erik to North American destinations (and beyond) seeking untold stories about the places the show visits and the people the show meets. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Erik moved to New York City in 1996 seeking new creative endeavors. He has enjoyed a diverse, 30+ year career in media creation on television, in radio and other mediums. He began working in travel and tourism in 2006 and never looked back.  He has dedicated his life's work to travel because he understand the positive influence travel has on our world view and this is a principle he teaches his own children. He currently resides in the Tri-State area.
