Hi, I’m Katie Zurich from Madison, New Jersey—a writer, educator, and suburban mom with a background in storytelling, sarcasm, and showing up with snacks (even when I swore I wouldn’t sign up this time). I teach college courses online, wrangle two elementary-aged daughters, and moonlight as a PTO vice president who accidentally volunteers for everything. My work blends humor and heart, often exploring the messier sides of modern motherhood, identity, and what it means to rediscover yourself in your 40s.
I’m currently developing a one-woman show called Influence This, a comedic deep dive into middle-aged reinvention, social media absurdity, and the strange glory of being a former cool girl turned reluctant grown-up. I also write essays and poems about parenting, advocacy, and the pandemic’s ripple effects in education.
My latest chapbook, Margins of the Mind, explores the quiet corners and unseen edges of post pandemic education through the lens of motherhood, memory, and mental load.
Margins of the Mind serves as both a meditation and a reckoning. It’s a love letter to the ones who keep the world spinning while feeling like they’re coming undone.
