About Michael Dorfman

I was born in 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. My father and brother were butchers so my family ate meat and dairy at least once a day. In 1976 I became interested in Eastern philosophy and became vegetarian for the next 33 years. Although I felt good most of the time I would get sick once or twice a year with flu-like symptoms. My brother, who had been a vegan for 20+ years suggested that I give up dairy to see if that was the cause of my illnesses. In 2009 I decided to go whole food plant-based and haven't looked back since. The annual illnesses became a thing of the past.

My decision to inform and educate others on the extraordinary benefits of whole plant-based foods and lifestyle choices resulted from helping my close friend Beatriz. At age 72, she was told by her doctor that she had six months to live after a failed hurt surgery. Aware of her dire situation I recommended a plant-based diet. The result: instead of six months, she lived eight more years. When we consume more whole plant-based foods and adopt healthy lifestyle practices we set into motion our body's extraordinary self-healing powers. Sharing that knowledge and understanding has become my life's mission and passion.

I started giving lectures and conferences in Mexico (English and Spanish), and created a Facebook page "Go Whole Food Vegan" (2500+ members) as well as a local Facebook Group "The Vegan Wave SMA" (400+ members). In 2019 I published my first book "The Thriving Vegan" which is presently being translated into Spanish. That same year I received certification in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies through Cornell University. I have a website: www.michaeljdorfman.com and a youtube channel. At 80, I have lived in Mexico for 40+ years and for the past six years in the colonial town of San Miguel de Allende. I recently created a 46-page eBook "The Nutrition, Lifestyle and Covid Connection" which I offer free to podcast audience subscribers. Each Thursday I send an entertaining and informative newsletter (i.e., blog, video, health tips) to my subscribers.
