Marie Khouri is a French sculptor based in Vancouver, born in Egypt and raised in Lebanon. Her artistic practice is deeply influenced by her multicultural heritage and her experiences of displacement during the Lebanese Civil War. A student of l’École du Louvre in Paris, she has developed a body of work that engages with language, form, and the human body, fostering dialogue and connection across cultures under a contemporary and conceptual art umbrella.
One of her most significant sculptures, I LOVE (Baheb), embodies this vision. Hand-sculpted in a fluid Arabic script, it serves as both an artwork and an interactive seating installation, inviting public engagement and shared experiences. This piece has already traveled to cultural institutions, having been exhibited at:
The Vancouver Art Gallery (Canada)
The Pyramids of Giza (Egypt) as part of Art d’Égypte 2024
The Institut du Monde Arabe (France), where it will be on display until September 2025
I LOVE is an interactive sculpture that embodies a universal message of love, unity, and shared human experience. This artwork is both a sculpture and a participatory space, it invites viewers to engage physically and emotionally, fostering connection in a way that bridges cultures through contemporary art.
