About Marisha Stewart

She was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. She began her pursuit of knowledge in 1991 at Montgomery College. After graduating from Montgomery College, Dr. Stewart transferred to University of Maryland, College Park and received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences. After so many years, Dr. Stewart was not satisfied with only a Bachelor’s degree and pursued higher degrees. In 2006, Dr. Stewart received her Master’s degree in School Counseling with a specialization in Mental Health from Gallaudet University and in 2011 her PhD in Human Services with specialization in Counseling from Capella University. She enjoys her pursuit of knowledge. Her motto to her students is “it never matters where you start but that you finish what you started.

She accepted the Lord at a very young age. Growing up as a preacher's kid (PK), she learned for herself who God was and what He can do. Dr. Stewart always knew there was a call on her life but she ran from it for years. In 2016, she recognized it was time to stop running away from God and step into all He predestined for her life. Unfortunately, when she finally accepted the call into ministry, she experienced separation/divorce. One would think this would not happen after accepting the call to do God’s work but God had a bigger plan. Divorce was the biggest obstacle she had ever faced in her life; however, it was the most influential moments that catapulted her into her purpose.

God healed and restored her brokenness while at the same time preparing her for ministry. She realized healing was connected to her mindset on how much God loved her, how much she loved herself and how she could be open to love again. In 2019, Dr. Stewart became a licensed minister at Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church while at the same time God was doing an inner work on the ministry he wanted to birth called “Lioness Queen.” The ministry’s mission is to help encourage women who are stuck and still struggle with the emotional trauma of separation and/or divorce. Her goal is to help women become “residue free.” Rev. Dr. Marisha Stewart is determined to help women realize that the separation/divorce had a purpose and it is the quality of their thinking that dictates whether the divorce is a blessing or a curse.
