About Dave Obrand

Dave Obrand is a father, husband, attorney, and political candidate for California State Assembly. Dave always felt he was a little different and needed to work harder than his peers but it wouldn't be until 2023, at the age of 38, that Dave was assessed and diagnosed with ADHD. Nonetheless, Dave has used a growth mindset to set and accomplish goals far exceeding others expectations. Dave uses self-reflection to identify his own strengths and deficits in his continuous effort to grow as an overall person. Dave grew up in the South Bay of Los Angeles and experienced the city's diversity in his own household. His mother is an immigrant from Nicaragua and devote Christian. His father was born and raised in LA in a Jewish family. Dave was raised Jewish but would on occasion attend church with his mom. Dave also was fortunate to watch his mom's tenacious work ethic lead to the classic American immigrant story of coming to this country with nearly nothing and developing an excellent professional career. His father, however, was Dave's hero. He was a legendary school teacher in Los Angeles for nearly 40 years who taught Dave the values of community, compassion, and leading with well-defined values. His dad also shared his love of sports with Dave. Dave played college football at El Camino College before transferring to UCLA and playing rugby. At UCLA he was highly involved in UCLA's official student charity that worked with underserved youth from Los Angeles. He then went to the University of Arizona School of Law where he earned multiple scholarships and academic awards. As an attorney, Dave has twice been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers before moving from private practice to government work. where he was a member of the Orange County Child Protection Trial Team where he represented the County in cases involving child abuse and neglect. For Dave's next move, he is currently running for State Assembly in California where he hopes to continue his efforts to serve his community and make a positive change. Dave is also an avid sports collector and aspiring author with two feature length screenplays and about a dozen children's books in his portfolio.
