About Alexander Parker

I founded Buxton Helmsley, a forensic activist investment firm, at nineteen. Our work has identified more than $20 billion in financial misstatements and securities law violations at public companies, many of which were later reflected in bankruptcy proceedings or corrective SEC filings. Our activist engagements have coincided with significant value creation, including at watchmaker Fossil Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: FOSL), where total shareholder return exceeded 500% in the roughly two years after we secured board representation. When we raised our findings at Mallinckrodt publicly, the SEC brought enforcement charges over the same alleged accounting standard violations. That record is personal to me. Five years after I started the firm, while we still managed private client portfolios, a public company defrauded our clients. That experience changed how I read financial statements, evaluate management teams and boards, and think about the standard of care investors are owed. Rather than move on, I built the forensic infrastructure to identify warning signs before they cost investors another dollar—and to see that someone is held accountable when they do. At Fossil, the company's Chairman and CEO—the founder's brother—resigned after twenty years, and its CFO departed. Bloomberg ranks Buxton Helmsley in the top 15% of global activist investors by engagement volume. Our work has been covered in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, MarketWatch, Axios, The Irish Times, and published in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance. Buxton Helmsley's board of directors includes a former Managing Director at Citadel and Director of Business Development at BlackRock; the former President of the New York State Society of CPAs and a current AICPA board member; and a former senior compliance and legal executive at Guggenheim, Brown Brothers Harriman, and AXA.
