About Laurie Gabriel

I decided to take what people say is my asset (seeing the world through a lens of childlike glee) and turn it into an occupation. I began my career as a music teacher in Colorado but increasingly noticed that I was often asked to suppress the exuberance of my students and focus heavily on testing and scores. I reluctantly left after 27 years and filmed a documentary, Heal Our Schools, in order to shed light on the errant path I felt the schools were taking. I took the film on a coast-to-coast screening tour, which confirmed that I was not alone in my feelings. That led to a Tedx Talk at Mountain View College in Dallas, which grew into a book called Eyes of Wonder: How to Recapture Your Childlike Spirit.

As children, we were brimming with anticipation. We were naturally creative and had vivid imaginations. We could lose track of time staring at a blade of grass. We made friends readily and didn't worry about people's outward appearance. We weren't afraid to giggle out loud or let tears fall when they needed to. Who says we have to leave that behind at any given age? I'm dedicated to helping people reignite their curiosity, creativity, compassion and courage. I provide tools that help them hone their focus, boost their positivity, enhance their imagination, and improve their relationships with daily exercises that can be performed by even the busiest person.
